Sunday, November 29, Worship Service
(Facebook page: First United Methodist Church - Sioux City)

(As of November 16) Suspending In-person Worship due to COVID-19
On Friday, Nov. 13, 2020, the Church Administrative Board voted to return to RED LIGHT Status.  Then, on Nov. 18, we received information that " Bishop Laurie Haller and the Appointive Cabinet is directing clergy and churches to cease in-person indoor worship and church activities through and including January 10, 2021."  In RED LIGHT Status, we will only offer online worship services and no group meeting will be held in the church.
When we resume offering in-person worship, in YELLOW LIGHT Status, we will offer one in-person worship at 9am and promoted the on-line worship to 10am on Facebook (The online service will also be available on our website at  We are holding off on starting the 11:15 Casual service.
We encourage folks who are vulnerable (who have other conditions or are older) to put their own health first (God understands).  Also, please, stay at home if you have fever, respiratory symptoms, or believe you are sick.
Please pray for all affected.  And when you wonder what to pray, pray “God’s will be done.”

Here is a list of our requirements in YELLOW LIGHT Status that need to be followed by all in the building:
In YELLOW LIGHT Status, the following guidelines will be in place:
- Keep social distancing in the building and in the sanctuary.
- Families will be able to sit together.
- Keep a 6-foot distance between ourselves/families and others.
- Please maintain social distancing of 6 feet when you are entering or exiting the building.
- We have roped off the sanctuary so that there is a row of pews for seating, then 2 rows of pews are vacant, then an available row, then 2 rows vacant, This will allow us to seat about 120 people (about 20 people per section) in our sanctuary with this configuration .
- We have removed the pew cushions, hymnals, Bibles, and all loose items.  This will allow us to use Q64 disinfectant between each service.  Disinfectants only work on solid surfaces and the pew cushions would not be properly disinfected if left on.
- We will require people to wear a facemask while in the building (we have disposable facemasks here at the church).
- Offering plates will be located at the entrances/exits and not be passed.
- We will not have bulletins handed out.
- We will not have a nursery.
- We will ask people to give a "Greeting wave" instead of a handshake.
- No Fellowship Time following worship.
- If you sing, we will ask people to sing at a very low volume or hum.
- We will continue to offer on-line Facebook & Website worship in YELLOW LIGHT Status (and probably even after we reach GREEN LIGHT Status).

 In-Person Regular Sunday Worship Schedule
(2 Worship Opportunities to Choose From)

Joyful Traditional Worship (Not being held as of November 22, 2020 due to Covid-19)
9:00 a.m.

Each Sunday is to be celebrated as a "Little Easter" and we bring that joy into each service.  So often when people hear "Traditional Worship" they think "boring".  Not here.  We respect the "Tradition" of worship with a joy-filled attitude as we share in a variety of hymns from the United Methodist Hymnal, preaching from the pulpit, exceptional musical accompaniment with the pipe organ, and the use of time-honored, biblical-sound liturgies to aid in worship.  The service is held in our beautiful traditional sanctuary with handcarved oak throughout and large, beautiful stain glass windows.

Casual Service  (Did not resume on Sept. 6 due to COVID-19 restrictions and plan on resuming in the near future)
11:15 a.m.

Come as you are to this 45-50 minute service that features a relaxed, casual style as the piano leads us as we "update" our traditional hymns and also share in praise and worship songs.  Our Celebration Singers lead us in the songs as Pastor Roger sheds the tie, people come in casual attire and we share with one another in worship in a laid-back style.
