12/22/24 (Fourth Sunday of Advent) - "A Madrigal Christmas"

Our 2024 Children's worship, including performances from our Music Academy students as well as the children and youth of First UMC.

The Children's program is "A Madrigal Christmas".

Our “Madrigal Christmas” includes an edited version of "The Second Shepherd's Play." During Medieval times, acting troupes would travel from town to town presenting plays. This play is one of the most famous. It tells the Christmas story of redemption. One shepherd is a thief, however, because of the birth of Jesus in the manger, the angel gives him the good news of salvation. The shepherd will not be punished by hanging because he has been forgiven.

For 30 years, local High Schools have celebrated Christmas with madrigals which have transported people back to the Middle Ages with music, skits and costumes. This year, our Sunday School and Youth@First our sharing in “A Madrigal Christmas.”
